Meet Karin

Karin was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and raised in the picturesque coastal town of San Luis Obispo, California. Surrounded by the beauty of the ocean and nature from a young age, Karin developed a deep love for the natural world—something that continues to inspire her artwork today.

Karin’s artistic journey began at California State Polytechnic University, where she studied Graphic Design and Painting. It was there that she discovered her passion for watercolor—a medium that allowed her to blend luminous color with intricate detail in a way that felt both personal and expressive. Alongside watercolor, she also paints on canvas, exploring other mediums and techniques that bring texture and depth to her work.

Her art spans a variety of subjects, from vibrant European landscapes and coastal scenes to colorful floral still lifes and detailed animal portraits. One of her personal favorites is a zebra at sunset, inspired by a client’s unforgettable African safari experience. Painting custom pieces brings Karin great joy, whether she is creating a still life or a sweeping landscape. Her work invites viewers into a world where light dances and color speaks.

Karin has created numerous commissioned pieces and finds deep fulfillment in bringing others’ visions to life through her art. She loves the creative challenge and joy that comes with crafting custom, original paintings—whether on paper or canvas—for her clients.

In addition to her studio work, Karin recently published her first children’s book, Kalea the Mosaic Sea Turtle, which she both wrote and illustrated. The story was inspired by the students she taught art to and the need she saw to build confidence in young children who sometimes felt left out by their peers. It gently teaches the importance of self-love, embracing uniqueness, and discovering one’s own gifts.
